As you could anticipate, there are many changes due to COVID-19.
We’ve updated our health and safety policies to ensure the safety of our clients and staff.
Blended Learning
Most of our public courses are now “blended”. This allows participants to complete much of the theory online, and attend only one day in class. This reduces in-class time for students.
Completion of the online portion is required prior to class. The online component takes up to 8 hours for Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED, so allow sufficient time to complete it.
If there are access issues with the online component, please call the Red Cross Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. If your class is on a weekend, please ensure that you resolve any access issues during their regular business hours.
Before Arriving to Class
You must complete the online portion prior to class. Attendees who have not completed the online portion must rebook and repay for their next course.
If you are not feeling well, please stay at home. If you are unable to attend for this reason, and have completed the online portion, you will be re-scheduled for a future class at no cost or penalty.
Class Check Ins
When each participant arrives, they will be required to complete and sign a short self-assessment declaration. This includes contact information, which will only be provided to Health Authorities in the unlikely event that there is a COVID-19 concern.
All students are required to wear a surgical mask. No fabric face coverings are allowed. For those who do not bring a mask, a disposable mask will be available for a nominal fee.
During Class
It will be mandatory for each participant to wash or sanitize their hands upon entering the classroom, and when returning from breaks.
The classroom will be set up with work stations, clearly marked to ensure appropriate social distancing. The number of students will also be limited to ensure ease of social distancing.
First Aid manuals will be e-mailed to participants, and the digital manuals may be referenced in class. Please bring a tablet, phone, or laptop capable of accessing the manual. Printed manuals are also available for purchase ($20). All other required supplies will be provided at each work station.
Wherever possible, hands on activities have been modified to help further reduce risk.
Prior to handing our any paperwork or supplies, the instructor will sanitize their hands, or wear gloves.
After Class
All desks, chairs, and training equipment will be thoroughly sanitized prior to class.
Doors, where possible, will be propped open to avoid excess contact with door handles. If this is not possible, door handles will be sanitized after each break.
